Sodexo recognised with BHA Environment Award

Sodexo was honoured at this year's British Hospitality Association's (BHA) annual luncheon with the presentation of the BHA's Environment Award.

The BHA selected Sodexo, a leading food and facilities management services provider, for its Group Environmental Award in recognition of the commitment it has shown to measuring and managing its approach to environmental issues.

Sodexo's efforts have included the reduction of packaging waste, fuel consumption of site vehicles and energy use at locations where the company has a level of responsibility for its procurement and consumption.

Sodexo recognised with BHA Environment AwardAround 900 guests, including Richard Lambert, director general of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), BHA chief executive, Bob Cotton and the Rt Hon Margaret Hodge MP, Minister of State for Culture, Creative Industries and Tourism, attended the ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, where they saw Sodexo's environmental manager Paul Bracegirdle collect the award on behalf of the company.

The award was one of six handed out at the luncheon designed to honour individuals or organisations for their contribution to the hospitality and tourism industries during the year.

Paul Bracegirdle said: “One of Sodexo's ambitions is to play a leading role in setting the industry standard in corporate citizenship best practice; and the effective management of our environmental impact will be key to our success. To have our environmental efforts recognised by the British Hospitality Association is an honour which takes us another step towards achieving this goal.”

Bob Cotton said: “Sodexo's commitment to meeting environmental best practice throughout its organisation needed to be recognised. For a company of its size and the nature of its business, there are many challenges to overcome, and through various projects Sodexo has already made significant improvements.”
